CAPTURE ONE STYLES FAQ
Q: WHAT IS A CAPTURE ONE STYLE?
A Capture One Style is a set of pre-made toning adjustments created in the program ‘Capture One’. These adjustments can be applied to one or many images in one click. A Style (like a preset) includes a variety of toning tools (such as color balance, RGB and luminosity curves, desaturation etc).
A Style is created to make a photographer’s workflow more efficient, whilst also opening up your mind to new color and toning options you may not have considered before.
Q: HOW DO I INSTALL THEM?
CO Styles are very easy to install! If you need a helping hand, each Capture One Style pack download comes with a detailed installation guide with screenshots for easy install. Please read the guide before attempting to install the Styles. A brief install recommendation is below but reading the individual guides is highly recommended.
When you receive the download link after purchasing - download to your computer and unzip/extract the files.
Tip: Save to a safe/memorable place on your computer or hard drive - just in case you have to re-install Capture One at any point!
Option 1.
After unzipping the downloaded folder, double click the ‘Styles Pack’ file (ending in file format .costylespack). This will automatically open your version of Capture One and install the CO Styles into the ‘STYLES’ window, located on the left hand side of your screen.
Option 2.
Open up the Capture One program and click Adjustments -> Styles -> Import Styles (located from the top menu bar) and select your Styles Pack (the file ends in .costylespack) Please note that the zip folder must be extracted prior to installation.
Locate where you saved the presets folders (For example - ‘Lara Jade - Fashion Foundations Set’), select to open and your newly installed presets will be located within this STYLES window.
Your newly installed Capture One Styles will be visible within the STYLES window. Please review the screenshots below that show you how to access the STYLES folder based on your version of Capture One.
You can also install by double clicking the Styles Pack directly or by simply dragging and dropping the Style Pack folder into the Capture One application window.

Q: ARE THE COMPATIBLE WITH MAC & PC?
Yes, all of our Capture One Presets are compatible with both Mac & PC.
Q: WHICH VERSION OF CAPTURE ONE DO I NEED?
All of our Capture One presets work with Capture One version 11.1 and higher and are in .costyle format.
Q: HOW DO I RECIEVE THE STYLES ONCE I’VE PURCHASED THEM?
Once you have made your purchase, you will be re-directed to a download link that is available for 24 hours. We’ve created a digital download so you are able to access your product(s) as soon as you order them, versus waiting for someone to email you! If you do have any issues with your download, please contact us right away and we will assist you.
Q. CAN YOU TEST MY IMAGES BEFORE I PURCHASE?
Unfortunately we are unable to test your files prior to purchase. If you do have ay questions regarding any of the Style Packs or the results, we are happy to help answer those! You may also join the Lara Jade Education group via Facebook and ask questions regarding the Styles. Other photographers often post their results here too!
Q: DOES THE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD COME WITH INSTRUCTIONS?
Of course! We want to make this easy for you. Once you unzip/extract the downloaded file - you will find the INSTALLATION GUIDE PDF. This is a detailed installation guide that you’ll find very helpful! It is extremely easy to install Styles in Capture One and you can start using them right away with the click of a button! However, if you do have any issues while installing/using them - feel free to email us!
Q: DO YOU HAVE A RECIPE / USAGE GUIDE ON HOW TO USE THE CAPTURE ONE STYLES?
Yes, you will find all of this information in the USAGE GUIDE PDF (sent to you in the digital download). This document is an explanation of what each Style does as well as some of my favorite / preferred presets & examples! Feel free to save this and refer back to it any time!
Q: DO THESE CAPTURE ONE STYLES WORK ON EVERY IMAGE?
Please bear in mind that it is almost impossible to have one Style that works perfectly on every image out there. There are many variables (exposure, white balance etc that effect the final look). While the presets are click and apply - you may need to adjust some local adjustments yourself within that ‘edit’ window on Lightroom. For example - your image is 2-3 stops underexposed and you apply one of the presets & wonder why the image is still dark. You will need to adjust your exposure and any other local adjustments to bring up your exposure to see the best results of the preset. This also goes for white balance adjustments.
All of our sets have been tested on a wide variety of images but for best results we advise using them on images that have a good exposure or a more neutral tone overall (with an even tone in the highlights, mid-tones & shadows).

Q: ARE THESE CAPTURE ONE STYLES EDITABLE?
All of our Capture One Styles are non-destructible and can easily be adjusted. These Styles are designed with you in mind & help your retouching process get a little easier! If you’d like to edit any of the toning options - you can do so in the ADJUSTMENTS panel. For example - if you loved what the style did to the color tones within the image but you felt it needed a little pop of exposure or contrast, simply add that in the panel to your individual image!
Q: WHICH IMAGE FORMAT DO THE STYLES WORK BEST ON?
While all of our presets work on both RAW, TIFF and JPEG formats - we highly recommend you use them on on a RAW or TIFF file format.
When you are shooting RAW - you get the highest level of quality and information in a file as opposed to shooting in JPEG. A JPEG is a ‘lossy’ file format and loses quality every time you open or work on the image. When retouching a RAW image, you can push the tonality of an image a lot more and access more detailed information.
